The 2025 EWI Reading Rally on September 30 was an afternoon filled with energy, joy, and encouragement for 25 5th and 6th grade girls from the YTeen program. Hosted by the EWI-Corpus Christi Chapter at the YWCA gym, the event created a welcoming space where the girls could be inspired by accomplished women and young women from the community. They listened to engaging speakers who shared stories of perseverance and possibility, enjoyed music that lifted the girls’ spirit, and participated in hands-on crafts that sparked creativity and connection. And we can’t forget the pizza and cookies enjoyed by all!
What made the day especially meaningful was the way each girl left with more than memories. Every participant received a bag full of books to nurture a love for reading and a second bag packed with thoughtful goodies—small treasures meant to affirm that they are seen, valued, and capable. The atmosphere was one of genuine care and celebration, demonstrating how a few hours of encouragement and generosity can plant seeds of confidence that last far beyond the afternoon.
